Before you can use the podcourse make sure you have the following:

• Acrobat Reader 6 or later (the latest version of Acrobat Reader is available free via this link)

• A sound card

• Speakers or headphones

Then you can choose to either download the podcourse file to your computer or run the file directly from the site and follow the appropriate instructions below:

NOTE: We would recommend downloading the file as this provides more options for navigating through the slides

To download and use the slide show

• right click on the link in the right hand box and then select “save target as”. You will then be able to select the location where you want to save the file. The file is quite large so it will take a few minutes to download.

• open the file from your PC using Adobe Acrobat Reader

• you will be given the option to make the presentation Full screen. We would suggest that you select No. This makes it is easier to move between slides if required.

• You will be asked to select whether to play the sound for this file every time you open the file or only this time. Select your preference

• The sound will start playing automatically.

• Use the forward button in the Acrobat Reader software to move to the next slide

• If you need to go back to another slide then:

  • click the “esc”key on your computer to stop the sound for the current slide

  • click the back button in the Acrobat Reader software or type the slide number you wish to view in the box provided in the Acrobat toolbar and press ‘return’

• You can preview slides by selecting to view the Pages option in your Acrobat Reader

To use the slide show without downloading

• Click the link provided

• The podcourse file will open and the sound will start playing

• To move to the next slide click anywhere on the slide

• At any time you can save the file to your own computer. To do this select File from your browser toolbar and then select Save As from the drop down menu
